| Steve has worked in the consumer lending business since 1987. In 1997 Steve responded to a senior management request to run the collection, recovery, and fraud functions for Advanta (now Fleet Credit Card Services). Taking up this challenge, Steve was credited with a complete turnaround of this function to include a $100 million reduction in loan losses. This followed two years leading Advanta's credit policy function. In that capacity, Steve built one of the strongest teams in the industry. His team developed one of the first economic value added (EVA) driven underwriting systems in the industry. Steve also spent 2 years as head of risk management for NationsBank Card Services (now Bank of America).
Steve spent his first five years out of graduate school with the consulting firm Management Decision Systems which is now part of the Experian organization. Starting as a statistical analyst, he went on to manage dozens of system development projects for banks, finance companies, and retailers among others. His expertise includes value optimization modeling for new account acquisition and account management. He is also widely viewed as an industry expert on loss forecasting, credit bureau data and analysis, and price elasticity. |
